What's dress works best for your Silhouette?

Tall and slender? Short and petite? A stick figure with little shape? For a special occasion, choose a dress that will fit your body style perfectly.

Tall and Slender Figure - You have numerous options. You can fashion curves by selecting a bell-shaped dress with attention to the bustline. A belt can create curves, as can ornamentation on both the upper and lower body for balance. Oversized shoulders, a jewel or bateau neckline and elaborately detailed sleeves will add curves to a stick figure shape. Avoid high-waisted dresses or slim silhouettes with vertical styling that will make you look even taller and thinner. If you are very tall, 5'9" plus, look for dresses look for wide midriffs and sashes, flared or tiered skirts and low necklines.
Short and Petite Figure  - To create an illusion of height, choose a dress with seams or trim that runs up and down lengthwise, to draw the eye upward. Avoid a belt, unless it is a narrow one, but choose trim at the neckline and shoulders, a dress with shoestring straps or an off-the-shoulder gown. Delicate detailing and elegant, well-portioned accessories are good choices. Shoes can also add height.
Square Figure - To create curves or to create the illusion of curves, choose fabrics that are softly draping. Whether created by shaped seaming or soft draping, curved lines emphasize the curves of the feminine form. Bigger skirts and sleeves can add valuable curves. Leg-of-mutton sleeves with tapering toward the wrist flatter full arms, but avoid these puffed types of sleeves if you have broad shoulders. Avoid sheath or clingy dresses that do nothing to add curves. Choose beading for the neckline or bodice, or a striking necklace to add femininity.
